Default spike in oil pressure

Have a question for yall.....the oil pressure has been running normally up until the last few days inwhich it proceeded to increase quite a bit when im driving but doesnt do it when ive sat idling for a while. i was wondering if this is something that i could easily fix by just changing my oil or is it something that is that i might have to tear into with replacing a valve or something along those lines?

Default RE: spike in oil pressure

most likely your oil pressure sending unit is going bad or there is a problem in the wiring.... it's back by the distributor, you can get a mechanical guage and replace it to test the pressure or just swap it out. when a motor has an oil pressure problem it usually means there is a problem in the lower end and the the pressure goes down not up.
