I have a 2001 Dodge RAm 1500, when ever i accelarate off a stop light and i put full force on the pedal the engine starts to cut out at the 4000 rpm mark, its like the enigine is trying to cut jump out of the hood. Is there something wrong or am i working the engine to hard?

Sounds like your hitting the rev limiter, but i cant figure out what would cause that at 4000 RPM's

 

Maybe low fuel pressure or exhaust converter? Any lights on? Maybe intake gasket.

 

I have a 01 Dodge Ram 1500 also, when I punch it from a stop, my RPMs carry way past 4,000 then shift so I dont think you are working it to hard

 

no lights on but i did just have my evap pump replaced i dont know if that will help you with the problem

 

i have a 2001 1500 with a 5 speed.. whenever i race i always carry my revs till alilttle over 5k (red zone).. puts me up in the power band when i go into the next gear.. also really helps out in 3rd which is pretty much my lag gear
