Default Tire inflation pressure

Hey everybody i could really use your help here. Ok on the door of my truck it has the recommended tire size and pressure P225/75R16 41psi cold. Ok what is on the truck are Bridgstone Duravis LT245/75R16 max 80psi. Obvousily they don't match but what tire pressure should i be running them at. I want to get the best mileage with the smoothest ride. I had them at 41 before but i bumped them up to 45 to see if the mileage is and better. I'm empty right now so i don't know about the mileage but the ride seemes to be harsher. Any suggestions or ideas and can i put 45 in the rear and 41 up front. Thanks

40-45 is usually good. I run mine at 45, but I run them up to 60psi if I'm going to tow/haul.

I wouldn't run them less than 50 myself...those are load range "E" tires, and with it being 10-ply (much heavier), too low of pressure will create extra heat and possibly shorten the life of the tire...most lr "E" tires on various makes/models recommend 65/80 or 55/80 psi.

Higher psi = better gas mileage but at the expense of comfort/ride. Just a minimum of 50psi is all I'm recommending here...it's the tires talking to me

The reason is, they're the correct tires for your truck...1500's only come with standard or extra load tires IIRC, 35 or 41 psi max respectively. Someone has previously installed a different load range tire on mattyge's truck.

Because all DC vehicle tire info stickers have list the minimum acceptable tire size/psi that can be used...like my 2500 for example...door says LT245/75/16...that's what it has on now, just got it used a bit ago...but my build sheet from DC says it came with LT265/75/16...confirmed this by looking at the 265 O.E. Michelin spare that I can't use now.

It means they're a heavy duty (10 ply) tire....for 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks. They're thicker and harder than normal passenger car tires or light truck tires. They're made for hauling/towing.

I have E range tires on my truck, and I have no problems or tread life issues running them below 50psi. In fact, even with the burn-outs I still can't seem to wear my rear tires down [:'(] The ride is also MUCH nicer. I've had several people comment on how my truck (3/4 ton with the stiffest spring package) rides better than a typical 3/4 ton and even most 1/2 tons.
