Steering damper
Next week I am going to replace my tie rods. In the manual there is a steering damper shown in the pics. My truck is a 98 ext cab 5.9 and does not have one. Is this normal for my year and model? And if so can I install one? There is a ton of wobble in the front end and the truck drifts all over the road. I am thinking that added a damper will help correct this? Thanks for any help
Weird...your truck should definitely have one. [&:]
If it's a 4wd, and it wobbles and drifts, then a stabilizer isn't going to help much
Search for "death wobble" on the forums.
I have a feeling you'll be shopping for a trac bar in the near future
I've found that this is the best replacement out there: http://thurenfabrication.com/stocktb.html

I wouldnt say its the best trac bar out there but it is a tie with DT. I prefer the DT because you dont have to disconnect it to adjust it.
as far as the steering stabilizer goes. You shouldnt even need one. If you put one on and it fixes your "SYMPTOM" than it didnt fix your problem.
I ran my truck without one for over a year. I only put some back on because I have a set of bias ply hawgs that will shake real bad when driven at highway speeds.
