Default PLENUM GASKET

Ok so Ive heard alot about the plenum going bad and about the pooling oil in the intake. My question is how much oil qualifies for pooling? I looked down in my throttle body and there were a few drops in the bottom like someone had sprayed it in there kidof like the droplets that you get when you spritz water on a plant leaf, but no pooling or puddles in there? what are your thoughts?

Small amounts are normal cause they come in through the PVC. Look in the corners, thats mostly where it will leak. You'll know if its excesive.

But like I said, a small film on the bottom is normal.

I did the plenum gasket about 2 years ago. There was no pooled oil anywhere in the engine, intake, anything, it just evaoprated the oil completely.... to the tune of approx 5 quarts in 600 miles.

Symptoms of a bad plenum gasket, aside from mysterious oil loss, is a lifter tick at the engine's resonant speed (2800~3200 rpms). Replaced it at about 50,000 on my truck, and it cured both of those problems immediately. I didn't find it incredibly difficult to change mine, just a bit time consuming.

after reading up on this plenum gasket problems it seems like if ur engine is using any amount of oil, just replace the damn gasket with an aftermarket kit that actually tries to fix the gasket failure. theres so much widespread failure why not just fix it no matter if its laeking or not, cause at some point it gonna leak!!
