mismatched years, your thoughts
About a year ago I purchased a 2001 Ram for a smokin deal. Yeah, it had been in a wreck, but it seems to have worked out fine. The dealer I bought it from ate the $3000 and put re-man heads on it, shortly thereafter I had to replace the tranny. But with 125k, I'm not complaining. Here's where I need your thoughts... The sticker in the door jam and the Vin plate on the dash match up. The man. date is 02/01. The radiator support has a 2000 model year emissions tag on it. When installing the o2 simulator, I ran into some problems with which wire went where. I grabbed the 2001 ram manual I had and none of the color coding matched up as far as wires go. When I looked up the 2000 wiring diagram, it is a perfect match. Apparently, the body shop that did the repairs on the truck installed a wiring loom from a 2000 or an ENTIRE front clip and drivetrain from a 2000. I know that there isn't much difference between the years of the 2nd gen trucks, but I wanted to get some feedback on what you all think. Comments, questions, I'll take it all.
Thanks
Thanks
Often when they rebuild trucks at shops for re-sale, they almost always use used parts....hence the cheap price of the vehicle. I'm guessing they had a 2000 parts truck that they grabbed stuff off of...not knowing what would actually be different.
