Default ignition/transmission problem

I have a 94 dodge ram 4x4 with a 318. The problem is it will not start sometimes. You can fiddle with the gear shift, sometimes putting it in neutral, and it will eventually start. What could be the problem?

Might just need to adjust the linkage to get in right spot. If it starts in neutral, see if the shifter pointer is closer to the reverse side of neutral. If so the linkage slider can be adjusted and in park it is not going far enough. Those of us with body lifts have done this. If this is the case, than either a bushing or other part of the linkage is wearing down over time/age. Replace worn item or adjust and go and wait for it to come back later.

The other culprit would be the switch as stated before.
