rearend problems
new dodge owner, Question: when I put my trk in reverse it grabs real hard, plus i can shake the tires from side to side and here a clunk noise as if the bearings are bad or maybe the hub is loose.i checked the u-joints and the motor mounts as well as the tranny mounts and both are good.any soggestions to what may be the problem, and what should i do to resolve it.
You can shake the front tires from side to side? What about if you grab the bottom of the tire and the top and try and shake it towards you. Does it move that way?
Can you elaborate more on "when I put my truck in reverse it grabs real hard"? Does the truck lunge? Or is there a loud clunk?

when i put it in reverse it has a loud clunk noise as if the u-joints are wore out but there not. some one else told me that maybe the shaft hits hard inside the rearspline from the backside of the tranny case. said to get a 25c rubber ball and put inside to give it cushion
i may be talking greek, it's hard to try and explain in words with out sounding off in la-la land. hope some of you motor heads could give me some advice and knowledge on these trucks . never owned one b4

you didn't say how many miles you have, or give any info on the truck. [:'(]
if you have a good amount of miles, expect a clunk when you go into reverse. there is a lot of play between the trans and the rear tires throughout the driveline, so if you shift from one direction to another everythings gonna hit and make noise.
and if you are talking about shaking the rear tires, do you mean going in and out with them? because they will move in and out a bit naturally.
next time you post, be very descriptive, and give background info so perhaps someone can help you.

with the truck in park get under it and see if you can twist the driveshaft.. there shouldnt really be any freeplay in it.. or jack up your rear end and put it in drive and reverse and try to pin point where the noise is coming from
