steering wheel radio controls, has anyone ever...
Just curious if anyone has modified the steering wheel radio controls? If so what did they do? i've got a 99 dodge ram 1500. There is a momentary <sp> switch(button) on the left hand side of the steering wheel. The factory deck has been switched out so they dont do anything now. Wondering if its worth it to mess with the wires.
I saw a detailed thread about this....but dont know where it is..Im pretty sure I remeber the guy saying it wasnt worth the trouble.
There is a connecter you can buy at your local radio shop and it will work with your aftermarket stereo. Its around $25- $35 If I remember right. But later on my buttons fell of anyway- then I sold it!!!
actually that connecter you speak of is alot more then that in cost wise and less effective as you claim as well.... a interface like that is costly and not always reliable... either way it wont be better then a remote that most modern aftermarket decks come with now a days....
i have my steering wheel controls wired to control my windows right now,,a,nd still have 4 more open circuits i can play with... it sjust time consuming to shoot out the wires and figure it out...took me 2 hours to wire the windows up... its neet project if your really bored... but hardly worth it if you have better things to do with your time
