Default 1998 Ram Exhaust Question

Hey everyone, I am brand new to this site... and I have a question that I would like to get some input on.

My fiance has a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup and I want to get some new exhaust for her truck for her b-day. She loves that truck and I wanna help her spruce it up a little bit. Since exhaust isn't too bad on the wallet, I thought I would get that. Now... I admit I don't know very much about Dodge's because I'm a Mustang guy. I'm a regular on Mustang Forums but I have nothing against you Dodge guys. Anyways, I'm looking at maybe Flowmasters... such as these...

I'm considering the first one. I know there are better exhaust than Flows, but the price sounds good for what she wants. Good choice? Also, I just wanted to make sure this will fit her truck because I'm not up on the Dodge's as much. I appreciate all the help... thanks.

If you are going to go with Flowmaster, I would suggest looking on ebay. That is where I got my Flowmaster system, and the price was about $180 with shipping for a cat back dual exhaust system with stainless tips, all the mandrel bent pipes (watch for the cheap crimp pipes) and all the hardware. Also, check out some sound clips to make sure you like the sound of the muffler before you buy. You can check out the link in my signature to hear my ste up. Hope it helps.

well there is one problem i see. The kit i see say the muffler has a 3" inlet. the dodge posably has 2.5"pipe coming from the cat. been there done that. 3" can not be "made to work" on 2.5" pipe. Looks bad. so you could do like i did and reaplace the cat and everything. See pics.....

Or get a reducer and make the shop use it!

If your buying a whole system and your going to clamp it on, then bring it to a muffler shop to get it welded, i would just reccomend going to the exhaust shop for the whole system, as in picking out the muffler (go to a shop that sells flowmasters) and having them bend all the piping. I know where i am from i went to a good shop and i got quoted $290. That included all hardware and labor. But i decided to just cut my exhaust after the cab and bought a flowmaster 10 series (single chamber) and put no pipe behind it, makes a really low and loud tone and i just have a 90 bend with some pipe to exit out the side for inspection.

Hey thanks guys... I'm sorry that I don't know much about the Dodge exhaust system. So it seems I guess I better just take her truck to my local muffler and exhaust shop and see what they say first. I didn't think about the 2.5" hookin up to the 3" so good call.
