Default differential ate somthing

Hey guys, got my suspension put back together. no problems. Yesterday heard a knocking sound coming from the diff so I pulled the cover off today and found some big metal laying on the magnet. I'll try to attach a pic.

It's a 9.25 rear, 2wd 2001 1500. I believe it's a washer/spacer. I don't know much about rears but what do you guys think.

LSD clutch pack ring, small wavy parts are whats left of the retaining clips. Common problem with the unit. So common this problem should probably be added to "2nd gen faq" thread

Well, this might be a good time to get back to the idea of changing my gears. I have 3.55 I think, and 265 75 16's. The Truck came with 245's on it new. I know it's not a huge jump in size but my next set of tires will most likely be 285's. But I'm not sure if it's worth it, or if I should change them at all.

If someone's going to be fixing this problem I might as well think about having the gears put in too.

Any thoughts?

If your going to get the LS replaced. i would spend the money and buy i detroit truetrac as it uses gears insted of clutches and springs and it much more durable.

It's in the shop, I'm staying with the stock gear ratio because I don't really have any problems with the slightly bigger tire size. If I end up going another size up I'll probably up the ratio.

What a bummer, This month was a real BIG HIT in truck repairs.

Thanks guys
