Default transmission probs???

Hi to all, my name`s Kirsten from Germany and i have a problem with my Ram 2500, 360 cui, 4wd, MY 2000, auto transmission
when cruising for a while at 2500 (tranny hot) the rpm`s keep rising for about 300 rpm and back in a second without accelerating the truck. This prob is there when im driving with OD or without. I changed the filter and the oil( ATF+3), it was as new in deep red color, no smells with the right level. Trans bands adjustet, but now the shift lever will not engage in "2" or "1", only in "P" "R" "N" and "D".
Do you have any ideas, because i can`t find anything in the repairbook or in the manual and the dealers in Germany i know can`t help me.
thanks a lot
regards Kirsten

Welcome to DF!

You can find a download link for a factory service manual in this thread: https://dodgeforum.com/m_340929/tm.htm

Your original problems sounds like it could be a speed sensor issue.

Do you mean the shift lever won't go into 2 or 1? Or when you put it in 2 or 1 the transmission won't go into gear?

miknvw is correct... TPS is noisey. swap it and your problem should be solved. it's on the drivers side of the TB and takes minutes to swap out.

[sm=americanasmiley.gif]thanks a lot for your help[sm=americanasmiley.gif]

i check it out, take me some days to get a tps in germany.[sm=sleeping.gif]

btw, i removed the iac valve, it was filthy dirty, so i cleaned it and put it back. after that the problem was not so bad but now it becomes more and more......[sm=confused06.gif][sm=confused06.gif][sm=confused06.gif]

@The Burning Rom
i have to pull the shift lever and move it into gear, when i release it then its fixed in the position, but in 2 or 1 its not fixed so i can move it back to D without pulling, the tranny will go into gear.

thanks a lot again
Kirsten
