Default Pitman Arm

I've seen posts here where people have replaced the Pitman arm on their trucks. What is the reason for replacing the Pitman arm, and what does it entail. Since my engine is out of my truck right now, I've thought about going in and replacing the drag link, tie-rod ends, and maybe even adjusting the steering box. The steering has a degree of slop in it that I think should be tightened.

if i'm correct.. the only reason for changing out the pitman arm is if you do a suspension lift over 3 inches. granted i've never put one on but i know all the kits out there come with new pitman arms and a whole bunch of other stuff if the kit is greater than a 3 inch lift.

No lifting going on over here. I need to use my truck to tow

Thanks for the feedback on that.

Pitman arms hardly ever need replacing. However the trac bar attached to it needs to be replaced

IIRC, the pitman arm on 4wd trucks is a non-wear item...the 2wd's have a ball/socket on the center link end that wears often. So for 4wd, it just needs replaced when doing an extreme lift, as mentioned above.
