Air Conditioner Blows Hot *sometimes*
Hello Everyone,
This is my first time here so forgive me if this has already been asked, but I did a search and it didn’t turn up anything. I have a 1999 Ram 1500 that will sometimes blow hot air while the air conditioner is on. In order to get it to blow cold air again I have to fiddle with the *****...most notably the **** that controls the fan speed (sometimes I have to turn it all the way off and back on a few times). This problem ONLY presents itself when I’m coming to a stop and I have the AC on.
Other then that the AC works fine and blows cold air great....its just this is rather annoying on a hot day and you get blasted with hot air when you come to a stop.
Thanks for any help you guys can give me. Just to let you know I’m pretty stupid when it comes to engines so please forgive me. I would take it to the dealership, but I’m really broke
It will help me a lot to know what to troubleshoot myself and possible parts that could be bad. Thanks again for any help!

sounds like a vaccum leak somewhere.. yeah i know ****ty thing to have happen but that's usually what it is when something like that happens. good luck finding it. probably can rent a vaccum pump from an auto store and just use it to find the leak.
Ok thank you for the help. I will look into that. I'll call around and check my Chilton. Are those pumps pretty easy to use? I doubt the people renting them will help me with any of it; do they go on the engine in a certain spot, or if I have to remove a hose, will I have to do something special when I reconnect stuff? I’ll also do my best to research how to use them, but any help I can get is very welcome. Also, if that passes, can you think of the next thing I should check by chance? thanks again!!!
