Chevron Fuel Additive
Much talk has been posted on this forum about fuel additives and cleaners. I felt I should post about a recent experience with Chevron Techron's Concentrated fuel additive.
My truck is beginning to get up in mileage (about 85,000 now) and I figured it was time to start some basic "freshening up" on the motor. Started off with new plugs and wires, new distributor and rotor, etc. I made a post on here asking about fuel additives, and if any were worth the effort at all. Some guys posted replies and links to outside studies, and I decided the techron was worth a try, as it was reported to help clean carbon deposits off parts of the engine. Before I tried the product my ECU was throwing a code for the fuel system, and it turned out that the sending unit had been gunked up with carbon and was not working properly. My gas gauge was out of whack and I had run out of gas at about "1/4 tank". I tried 2 large bottles of the stuff with one fillup inbetween them, and got great results. The engine starts smoother and runs noticably nicer at idle now, and my ECU quit throwing the code. I havent torn the engine apart to check injectors or dropped the tank to check the FSU, but after driving the truck for 400 miles without the code I am pretty confident this product helped out. Just figured I would give a quality product it's due, and for 12$ a bottle it may be worth a try on your truck.

I just added A bottle of preston fuel cleaner, then a tank later Outlaw fuel cleaner. Where do you get the Chevron and the mopar brand. I looked at autozone but couldnt find it. They seem to be a little stronger than what autozone has to offer. Thanks

The Chevron I bought at wal-mart. I also know for sure that they carry it at Pep-Boys, as far as I know the only way to get the mopar stuff is from an authorized dealer.
Thanks man, I am running on the theory that is you consistantly adding Different substances it works better. Becuase they all seem to work in different ways. So hopefuly they will work together and fix my misfiring problem. Clogged injector. Thanks i will try that stuff on the next tankful.
