Default choosing gears

i just bought a 1998 dodge 1500 4x4 with a 5.5 superlift with the 35's. i love the truck but the gears, it only has 355 in (it is also a 5spd) but i was looking at putting 456 gears in it and upgrading to 37 with the 2 body lift i just bought but. i was looking at the gear charts for a 456 gear and 37 tire and it falls into average everyday driving.

so just wondering if anyone has installed 456 gears in their truck and if they are happy or not. if they have the power they need. about how many rpms are they at on the interstate and any other choices on it. thanks

You should be fine with 37s and 4.56s...since you have the manual transmission. Most manual owners can run 35s no problem with only 3.55 gears. If you had an auto, it would be a different story [&:]

37's with 4.56's sounds like a good choice. i dont have em, but from what ive read over the past year, you would be happy with it.

Try this thread. I used the gear/RPM formula from DriveTrain Specialists.
