Hi.

I recently swaped the timing chain, water pump, thermo (180) and hoses and since Ive been stumped to a sort of whistling noise I get. I cant hear it at idle but when the RPM's go up i can hear. It sounds kind of like a turbo whine but not nearly as high pitched. I was told to check the whole airbox/filter system and its not that. I was also told to check the pulleys. Im pretty sure not the idler because I have greased that up (btw anyone know what to torque the idler pulley bolt to?) Im thinking something Water Pump related. I replaced the Water Pump with just a Napa Reman.

How can I go about check the Water Pump Pulley, shaft etc?

One thing I noticed was that when I took off the OEM pump and compared it to the REMAN. The Napa part didnt turn/rotate as easy. I figured that was just because it hadn't been lubed by any coolant.

i have the same noise...i get it alot when driving too...basically in the higher rpm's...i dont think its anything too serious cuz nothing has broke on my truck yet...im just curious on what it is...i think it has something to do with the tube that goes from the air box to the fender, but i dont really know

 

If we do in fact have the same noise, im pretty sure its not airbox related. I had the noise with the stock intake system. The other night I installed the FIPK and i still get the noise.

 

humm.....i have the stock airbox and i have the noise too????????

 

Is the gasket that sits on top of TB between the airbox in place.
