unknown revving

i started my truckthis morning and without me touching anything, it started revving up to about 2000 rpms and dropping. it did this four or five times over about 20 seconds and it hasnt happened besides this morning. anyone have an idea what it was? thanks

im no pro but just a guess, is it like its starving for fuel almost like maybe its dying down then gettin some and reving back up,since maybe its cold, i dunno, im dumb.......

mine does that every morning, not as much as you say. but itll rev up once, maybe twice. my moms dodge ram van does the same thing. i think its just the engine warming itself up, kinda like a choke on a motorcycle or lawn mower.

A fuel injected engine doesn't need to "warm up", air/fuel mixture is precisely controlled unless something is not in line...might be a lazy IAC valve or any number of sensors giving a false reading at startup.
