is there a way to check the cat besides cutting it off and rewelding it on? and do i take the o2 sensor out or just un hook it? tomorrow my buddy is stopping by with his scanner to see if its running any codes. i want to replace the cheapest parts first. ive dumped wayyy too much money into the truck in the past few weeks in repiars...the less i havt to spend the better because im on a TIGHTTT budget. but i have another vehicle to drive incase it takes a while to fix. thanks guys for the help. any/all help is always greatly appreciated

Take it completely out so the exhaust gas's have somewhere to go. This isn't gonna make it run like new though, that holes way to small to let ALL the exhaust gas out. But it should give you an idea if its clogged.

So ... which was it ... the tranny or the exhaust?

Please don't tell me that they told you it was both ... at the same time.

Wait ... did you say EGR Valve?

I dont know i am no expert but that does not seem right to I would pay that much, becuase the chances of all that stuff happining at one time are very very slim. So maybe someone will list what you shuuld have them replace first second third. Dont pay for all that at once, just a thought though

Theres your problem right there [&:] Should have taken it to a private shop. Also check to see if you cat will be covered by the extended warrenty. The Dealer probably charged you $300 for the exhaust work when you could have taken it to an exhaust shop and got a full custom exhaust for that much with highflow cat and performance mufflers

well...my truck left the dealership...its at a tranny shop gettin the tranny done for about $1500...complete tranny rebuild. then the guy said he was gunna replace the whole exhaust from the headers back for parts only...$820...no labor. i want a high flow cat and a flowmaster so i was gunna buy them and give them to him to put on but the guy said he wont do that cuz its like going to a resturant and bringing your own food. so i hafta call him back and tell him to order a highflow cat and a flowmaster delta 40 series. if he gives me problems ill tell him its like going to a resturant and asking for your steak cooked a certain way. if hes just a complete ***** then ill have him do the tranny and ill do the exhaust myself and ill get pipes bent so it dumps out right in front of the rear wheel and ill have my buddy weld some tips on so it looks nice and not ghetto

also...i have a stupid question i think...what is the EGR valve, where is it and is it hard to change?

thanks alot everyone
