Status: online I have a 96 dodge ram 4x4 360 auto and the brake lights will not go off unless you lift up on the pedal hard. I have put new pads and shoes and hardware on. New brake light switch and checked the pedal bushings. Does anybody have any answers that could help.
thanks

Status: offline Sounds like you didn't set the plunger depth correctly.

When you install the switch, you must have the pedal depressed. Go as far as you can. Now install the switch, BUT, make sure you have the plunger ulled out all the way. The switch installs at an angle, then an 1/8 of a turn to lock it. Now let the brake pedal up easy. Don't let it snap back. The pedal will seat the plunger to the correct indent. Try that. I would bet money that's what happened.
