Default 1998 Ram 1500 no start, guages not working odometer flashing mileage

1998 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.2L auto

Engine cranks will not start, have checked the ECM connectors, and a battery disconnect

the guages do not work, all lights come on then go off, but hte abs and airbag and seatbelt ones stay on

engine has no spark

the odometer is flashing the mileage

power goes away from the DLC connector when the key is turned on,

any ideas? im leaning towards the ECM, any input will be greatly apreciated!!!!

Crankshaft Position Sensor..that's my first thought. If the CPS is bad, you won't have any spark. It acts as the pick-up plate for the distributor.

Beyond that, I guess it could be the ECM. I'm not sure what else would cause you to not have spark.

I hav a 1999 ram 1500 2wd auto 5.9l. My odometer was blinkin after disconnectin th negative battery cable 4 awhile then reconnectin it. Wen i went 2 reconnect it, it sparked/arced really big. Wen i went 2 start th truk again, it cranked a half turn & quit. Like th battery jst went dead. The ododmeter started blinkin wen i turned th ignition on..i researched it & found out tht th pcm went bad wen it arced.

I put on a new pcm (sum1 told me in another forum tht i needed 2 turn th ignition on & wait 15 secs b4 starting it 4 th 1st time after puttin th new pcm in). Only, i 4got tht part. I fired it rite up.

Th odometer still blinks & now th needles jump in time with th odometer on all th gauges. Help!!!

I told you the wait 15sec before starting. You may have friend the gauges and might need new ones.

Yes it will read thr mileage of the truck you take it out of, unless you get a dealer to reprogram them.
