Default V-10 Dilema

Well as some of you know, I have a 96 2500 V-10, well sorta, I have been without my truck for almost 3 weeks now due to the motor deciding it has had enough at 37,000 kms.

Today Mt Dad went and bought an 06 Dodge ram 2500 Diesel and no longer needs his V-10. Its a 2001 2500 with the quad doors and a long box. Now I have 2 V-10 trucks and one way or another, I have to be left with one.

My truck is rigged to haul cars and trailers, campers, etc, to work. It is already rigged up the way I want with my subs, radio, cb, police scanner, tool box, winch, lights. Its also has the SLT Laramie package and everything that has needed to be replaced and repaired has been delt with, WITH EXCEPTION to the cracks in the frame and the surface rust on the four wheel wells. The cracks in the frame arent major, there not speading. On the bottem of the frame between the box and cab there is about a one inch crack on both sides.

The 2001 is a work truck. Manual windows and locks, A/c doesnt work, needs some love, but well it runs and is rust free. Its also a 5spd.

Im stuck in a rock and a hard place. Im even tempted to sell both and jsut buy a new truck. Both trucks have over 230,000 kms and my 96 has 397,000 kms.

Anyone want to buy a Dodge

I'd sell the 01 and use the $$$ (if you'd get money out of the deal...since it's your dad's truck) to fix your frame and rust spots. I'd also make damn sure the new motor that came this time was a good quality rebuild, even if I had to tear parts of it down and inspect it myself. That's just me though. There's NO reason at all that a rebuilt motor should go that fast. Heck, my stocker has 144,000 on it.

Just my thoughts though. I love my V10 though, and the only way I'd ever get rid of it is if I couldn't financially afford to keep (not necissarily drive) it anymore. I doubt that will ever happen

Well some good news came for me, sorta. I will be removing my old motor and installing the new one, while being paid for the whole ordeal. The new motor is sitting in Edmonton at the warehouse so things are sorta looking up for me.

Heres the 01

And my 96 on its last trip
