PCM = Powertrain Control Module = Your truck's brain

Takes about 2 seconds to locate (open hood, point to firewall with your left index finger) it's the silver box about the size of a TV Guide with three large connectors on it. Takes about 2 minutes to change out (including disconnecting the battery).

Actually ... considering that it's part of the Emission Control System, it might still be covered under warantee (how old and how many miles?)

Otherwise ... they can't cost THAT much. Junkyards are FULL of them. You'll have to get the dealer to burn the VIN and the mileage of your truck into the new one for it to be legal.

PCM is shot. It's really easy to swap out, but not a cheap part at all [:'(] It's covered under the 80,000 mile emissions warranty. If your truck is over 80k, check out a junkyard before buying new/remanufactured.

What's your estimate for a used/junked one? RockAuto has them for $66 ($75 core).

THAT'S Cheap!

Wow, that is cheap. RockAuto is known to have cheap prices though. It would be a little more coming from a parts store.

As far as the hypertech, it doesn't matter. All you'd have to do is plug your hypertech in and re-program the replacement pcm
