brake light and abs are on....master cylinder or a F-n abs sensor?
Hey whats up fellow dodgeforum.com/dodge ram gurus I have a 97 SS/T with 104k and my brake light and abs light came on at the same time, my braking is a little different so im thinking master cylinder but when I went to Advanced Auto and checked my codes it said nothing even with the lights on...any help, thanks Aaron G. dodgesst05@aol.com
If your speedometer doesn't work below 20 - 30 mph, it is probably the speed sensor in the rear differential. Your truck has two speed sensors. From what I found, most auto parts stores have the one for the tranny, but not for the rear differential. If your speedometer works, you might have to search a little more to see if it is the speed sensor or another component.
Most ABS codes are only readable by the dealership
I'm not sure it's a speed sensor issue though. It sounds more like an actual brake problem.

i had a prob to where they came on, and i checked my brake fluid it was like all gone. so i tracked it down to my wheel cylinder.u can tell cuz there will be like a wet lookin spot where its ran down the tire.
I have a 98 and had the same problem. Changed the speed sensor in the rear end (took about 10 minutes) and cured my problem. The sensor was a stock item at local Dodge dealer (small town also) and cost app. $20.00
