fuel press. is right at 50 psi from idle up to 3500rpm it dosen't drop off at all any where in that rpm range. i'm running stock ignition with a Accel super coil, but i think the coil may be on its last leg , will be pulling it off soon and put the oem unit back on to see if it makes any difference, am also going to reroute vaccum line from map sensor to see if that will pull any timing out of ignition. thanks again.

leave the map sensor where it is and swap the coil back to a stock one, then see where your at. if your map sensor worked ok before in it's stock location, it should still work now. there have been problems with the oem style accel coils, you may have an issue with yours...

swapped the oem coil back on the truck ,that seems to have taken care of most of the problems, the truck now runs thru the gears at full thottle past 4500 rpm without any miss fire, detonation etc..,there is a little hesitation right off idle when mashing the throttle. but after that it will set you back in the seat. i am going to check the timing again, may have to move the crank sensor forward to stock location. it seems like the timing is slightly retarded now.will post back once i get this done. thanks again to everyone who replied. can anyone recomend a good aftermarket coil, the oem coil i have on now works but i think it can be improved.

I have the MSD 6A with a Blaster 3 coil. Its pretty easy to install and I like it. Under the DYI section Shott8283 did a great write up of how to install it.

checked timing again and its still slightly advanced, about 7-8 deg., moved vaccum line from map sensor lower on intake and that didn't make any diff. the only problem i seem to have now is areal slight hesitation off idle when i lay the throttle to the floor and a small amount of valve train noise above 4200 rpm, but i think i may have a little to much preload on the lifters. now about that MSD 6A with the blaster3 coil, is that set up hard on caps, rotors, plugs etc...?

Basically it fires 3 times more than it normally would (this is assuming you get the 6A Box) so you can expect to get your cap, rotor and plugs ate up 3 times more often than you would normally. This hasn't been a problem for me because I'm still trying to find the plugs I get the best performance out of. If you have a good set of wires though, you shouldn't habe to worry about them too much.

yeah, from my experience, plan on cap/rotor/plug swaps every 15~20k. I had the off-road box with the off-road coil and this was what my experience was...

are the gains you get in performance/mileage increases worth the cost and hassle of changing cap/rotor/plugs that often?

I don't have any mileage figures, but I do know that it had to have helped some. Also I did this mod because I knew someone who needed money fast so I got the MSD box brand new for like $50 I think. I am planning on more mods, kinda like you have so I think it will help me out more when I get more performance parts installed.

yes there are gains in swapping cap/rotor & plugs... they will be fresh. I developed a pinging problem after about 25k that took me a while to figure out, did the tuneup and the pinging was gone, took the msd out when I went to sell the truck and never put alot of miles on it after that.
