DRIP DRIP DRIP
Hey Everyone,
Got a question for you guys. How hard is it to replace the oil pan gasket? My truck is leaving drip marks everywhere it gets parked and my boss is starting to get annoyed, and frankly so am I. I changed the oil this weekend and it looks like its dripping around the back of the oil pan, down the bell housing front cover and getting splashed all over my tranny pan and my front driveshaft. grrrr!!!! Anyway, it this an easy fix or should I just take it to the dealer? Also, while I was under there this weekend I noticed that i'm dripping gear oil from the front axle. It seems to be coming from the two bolts where there is a wiring harness and, what I assume is, the vacum line. This looks like an easy fix but any input would be helpful. Thanks guys!!!

P.S. Heres the specs on my truck. 1999 Ram ext. cab, 4x4, 318 w/auto tranny.

both are easy fixes.
if the oil is indeed leaking from the oil pan gasket, drain the oil, pop the bolts out of the pan and just slap a new gasket in there. if its leaking from any other gaskets on the motor you might have problems changing it yourself though.
the cover on the front axle is for the CAD unit. very, very easy to seal. take the bolts holding it on out, and use some form-a-gasket goop on it. let it set for an hour or so, then top off the front axle fluid via the plug on the diff cover.
don't overtighten the bolts on either of these units though, they dont need much torque to hold them on.
