Default Several upgrade plans for the holiday week.

well, im down here in edmonton, ab. I hauled a little pontiac sunbird on a single axel car dolly all the way down from Dawson Creek, and I must say.. Dodge still outhauls anything on the road. I was passing cars, trucks, semis, doing about 110-130kph average, and amazingly enough, no overheating and no excess usage of fuel. wow. anyways, what im posting about is that I intend to pick up a few things which are hopefully instock while im down here.

I am considering some JBA shorttie headers, but will they work properly with my x-pipe or should I maybe plan on different headers (brand or otherwise). I also plan to pick up a fastman 50mm TB, again if in stock, now how hard are those to swap over? given the average time to install for a semi-novice driveway mechanic.

I plan to get some tube style boxrails as well, to match the rest, and i was thinking of getting the type with the tail lights, but i know how much of a hassle they would be to install.., question about them would be is it legal to use JUST those, and not have the regular taillights visible anymore.

last question, which commandstart/alarm system combination would people suggest with the best overall value and quality of sensitivity, etc. which would protect my truck the best?

any questions answered tonight/tomorrow is great, I hope to have all this purchased before friday when I have to focus more on a wedding that I came down here for.

thanks.

I don't see a reason why the headers wouldn't work with your exhaust. I'm sure your X pipe for your exhaust is well past the transmission, and the headers don't go much further back than the stock manifolds.

The throttle body is an easy install, but I highly doubt they'll have one "in stock". They're custom made to order by Dan "The Fastman" in MN.

What do you mean by tube style box rails with tail lights in them? [&:]

I have no suggestion on the alarm...not my kind of thing [:'(]

Greatly appreciated TBR. no wonder noone knew what I was talking about when i was looking for a fastman TB.

as for the tubestyle rails, i was looking for the ones with LEDs in the back section to use as brakelights. but i cant even find black ones here in edmonton anywhere, that are in stock, . I may have to suffer purchasing chrome, then strip and paint./powdercoat.

and the alarms and command start combination, PITA, but once winter comes, I'll definately prefer to have a warm truck..
i was looking at rims and tires while Im down here too, but even with the tax difference, the ones here are a touch more expensive.. but at least I have a few doz more places to look in the next two days.

i guess living in the US you dont use commandstart either eh?

so those fastman TB, how would I order them? just through his website im guessing eh.. (* not thinking straight, busy and sidetracked while thinking *, even though my truck should always be priority)

Some people probably use command start. I don't have a need for something like that. My car sits in a heated garage, and the truck I drive in the winter is carburated...so when I start it, I have to go out and open up the choke anyway. [:'(]

As for the throttlebody, you can order it directly from www.thefastman.com I believe you get a discont if you mention this forum.

Command start is where you hit the button and it starts right?
But this alarm is great i wish i would of goten it instead of the one i got, it has remote start, and an led keychain that shows when your alarm is going off and when your truck is started. You can also adjust the sensitivity from the led keychain.

The only bad thing i have heard is the led breaks real easy and its 70 dollars to replace

thanks, .. yeah i'd almost want to put a rubber shock absorbing casing on it.. i'd have to make one, everyone is clumsy with fobs.

and yeah command start is the push to start on the fobs.
