All 2nd gen guys and everyone else too...
I mostly look at the 2nd gen threads to gain knowlegde and ask for help. Before I ask a question I try to do a search and see if anybody else has allready asked. Alot of the threads I read contain suggestions to fix the problem and other input. Which is great, but alot of them end there. For readers like myself I am left wondering "Did this guy do any of this work? Did it fix the problem?" The thread just ends with some advice.
How about posting the victory(solution)? Letting us all know what worked. I'm not saying all the threads are like this but alot are. It might cut down and the same questions asked over and over again and a person might be able to solve their problem without having to start another thread. Just my opinion.
Take care guys

most people have the common courtesy to do so, but every once in awhile they dont..
most of the information (mainly by "the burning rom") will be correct. and then it wont need a victory post, however you will notice if it doesnt work, they'll continue asking in the thread.
I do agree with you on that though, would help for some small information.

I agree, The Burning Rom gives excellent advice and info. And I also agree that is common courtesy to post the results and let us all know what it was. And that's what I'm getting at. After the original poster does the work/fix that other members have suggested, it would nice to post a conclusion. So that other readers will benfit from it and to thank the person for taking the time to help them with their problem.
I guess I just did some searches and found a SEA of threads just die without any conclusions. And it left me feeling empty without any furthur knowledge. Just a bunch of (educated) ideas that might work. Don't get me wrong, those ideas are keys to help fix the problem and I am greatfull. It's hard to diagnose a truck problem on a internet forum. And I don't expect that just because it worked for somebody else it's going to work for me. But all we have to go on is what we read in the thread. And how how it ends.

The problem with this suggestion is that a lot of people join the forum just to get one problem resolved. If the suggestions to fix the problem work, they often don't come back...even to tell everyone that it worked.
It's a way a lot of internet forums are [&:] It's hard to get people to come back that aren't truly interested in being a part of a community.

I like it too, I've learned alot. Rom makes a good point that some people are in and out real quick. It's like that on a local fishing forum that I've been a part of for 2 years now. We have well over a 1000 members but only about 100 really use the forum.
this is only the fourth forum i've been to and stay with religiously, and i stay with this one because there are so many people willing to share their knowledge and experiences with others.... I like that, it helps me learn, and be able to do the same.
