problems
I have a 96 ram 1500 5.2 4x4, recently rebuilt the motor and replaced tranny and transfer case, when I went to start it nothing, no fuel no spark, trouble codes number 11 and 12(no disty signal and battery disconnected within last 50 keycycles) ...i cant really see why it would have no disty signal and have no clue of the signifigance of the other. anyone had this problem or anything similar, any ideas advice etc?
yea, I know about the crank sensor, just replaced it about 2 months before the rebuild. still havnt figured the problem out, gettin aggrivated with the truck, its been a two year project with ported and polished heads, 3 angle valve job on the intake side and radiused on the exhaust side, heads shaved block decked. I have a feeling its a pcm problem which isnt really a big deal if I can diagnose it as being just that, I have several standalone EMS's (ACCEL DFI, Haltech) laying around, ill just drop one of those in and be done with it.
If the crank sensor is only 2 months old, try to take it back and get a new one...I put 2 piece-of-crap crank sensors in a Gr. Cherokee 5.2 from Kovachy/Budget, Standard brand iirc. Both would lose signal once warmed up and throw the code 11. Threw in an O.E. sensor, and it's been good.
Just an update I did check the crank sensor out of curiousity, and low and behold, its broken in half, apparently when I ordered a new tranny they sent me one out of different year/model, the deck height for the mounting point was lower so I had to shim it up to keep it from hitting the flywheel. But all is good now, truck runs but still working out some kinks here and there, like it not running smooth past 3500 rpms and not having a front driveshaft or vaccume motor. But hey on the bright side....it sounds like a MONSTER!!!
