there was a guy on pavementsucks that put a hood scope off the new hemi on it and it looks amazing. its on my list of things too do. i just need to figure out how to close it when it rains so my motor doesnt feel like its getting powerwashed when it rains.

I used to have an impreza and it had a scoop right on top of where the top mount intercooler would have been if I ha d a WRX, it kept the engine bay cool, but I didn't notice any performance gains when I took the plate off to open up the airflow. However the car also had 2 hood vents closer to the front of the hood near the fender and signal light, I only took off the backing plate when I put an intake on and then realized why the "cold air intake" was called such (normally they go into the fender) the filter was perfectly lined up with the vent. I wouldn't do a hood scoop on a truck, people will just assume it's fake and you won't get many, if any, gains from it. If you vented your fender for soem type of ram air intake that would be interesting but it might look stupid.

Speaking of keeping the engine bay cool at low speeds, on the cover of Off-road adventures a few monthes ago a guy put one of those flex-o-lite electric fans right on the hood. dunno how well it worked, looked cool [:'(]

ORIGINAL: ElChango

Check out these performance hoods from Keystone.

They feature functional Ram Air style hood.

well its a roundabout.. you need to cool the engine compartment so its not getting too hot, and then also its giving a fresh flow of air to the CAI at the same time..

in the winter, of course, both the HS is closed, and the CAI is returned to stock.

Unless you want to get into custom metal work under your hood a freash air kit works just a good. If you off roading the open scoops will scoop the poop into you engine bay. I have them on my street truck for looks only. There are functional hoods avalible but, they are big bucks. If you need extra air try NASC scoops. You can find them on e-Bay cheap.

my truck is street only. so poop doesnt end up on the hood anyways.

i've yet to see one truck that looks good that has the pushbar and hoodscoops.. and there's no way in hell i'm ridding myself of the bars. those things will save me from a moose one day.

nice hood in that attachment.

i seriously need to fix this low end power problem.
