Default Dana 60 upgrades

I have a 96 2500, with stock dana 60 front and rear. I would like to upgrade to 35 spline axle shafts, arb air lockers and 4:56 gears. Does anyone know if the new axle shafts will fit in my stock axles. When I inquired about this at a shop they said they didnt know if the axle diameter would be big enough. And if they they are does arb make a locker that will work with the new axle shafts?

The only part upgraded in that is the outer shafts, the inner shafts stay the same so the ARB will work jsut fine (correct me if I'm wrong).

The only part that might get hairy is that the larger splines on the end won't work right with the factory parts. They'll need to be bigger. You have this problem cause the Dodge D60's don't come with front manual or auto hubs and the upgrade kits seem to be for axles that do have them.

This info probably isn't 100% accurate, what does everybody else think?

are you trying to do a Dyna trac hub conversion?

If not there is a kit out there to go to the 35 spline kit

I have 33's right now. I plan on going up to 35's next summer. I cant go any bigger right now without a lift. And I cant lift my truck because the govt has to be able to ship it cause I am in the army. If it gets too tall they cant ship it and I have to drive it. Which cross country trip with 11 mpg could be expensive. Anyways getting off track. I want to upgrade to 35 spline because I use it for alot of towing and pulling stuck trucks out. (Helps pay for gas in the winter, I live in N.Alaska.) So since I am regearing and everyting now I figured since I was in there I might as do it all. Its not a must. At least I want the 4:56 gears and the locker.

its a good idea to do it... 35's will be going on but who knows.. you might want 40's on it in a year or so..and youll have the spline count, gears and axles to do it with!
