Default what's your opinion

Alright guys I need a little help deciding what to do. I have a 318 4x4 extended cab with a k&n fipk, ckp mod, hypertec pp3, 3" exhaust no cats, iat mod, tps mod, and a double roller timing chan adcanced 3 degrees.

Now for the question. I ran into a guy the other day with an m1 and ported r/t heads 2.02 fully built brand new and he said he would let me have them both for $700. I want so bad to put them on my little 318 but I am scared of the low end loss. I know the price is more than worth it but should I wait to put them on until I build my 426 stroker in a few years or should I just go for it with 259,xxx miles on my truck. If I do put them on I will also get a cam (don't know what specs yet) 1.6 roller rockers, and I'm thinking 4.56 gears with 33"-35" tires.

So lets hear how crazy I am for suping up an engine with 259,xxx miles

actually it could be good if you maybe do something with the piston and cylindar walls. maybe get some r/ts and get the cylinder honed.

buy them anyways, at that price its an affordable investment, even if they sit in your garage for awhile.. and even if you still dont use them, you can turn them around and sell them for 8-900

I would seriously consider treating that motor pretty gingerly from this point on if your considering using the block for a stroker later on. That's a LOT of miles for a gasser. I'd hate to see you try to pull some extra horses out of it this late in it's life just to see it lay down on you (and maybe loose the block in the process). Buy the heads, mothball them, use them on your stroker when you build it.

Wow, I don't blame you for being tempted to go for it, I would seriously consider it myself, but 259,xxx is pretty high to be putting that type of power through. You would probabbly be more satisfied sitting on them and putting them on the stroker when that time comes. But by all means...jump on them and buy them! that price is too good to pass up.

I think I am deffinetly going to get the parts. A deal like that doesn't come around very often. When I did the plenum fix at about 220,xxx and the oil pump just for safe measure around 240,xxx everything looked like it was in awsome condition for the mileage. I have seen pictures here where others of had their intake off and it was a little gummy inside mine was not. I switched over to synthetic oil when I did the oil pump and steal do not burn a drop of oil between changes.

My truck has never seen an easy day since I have owned. I have always used it as a workhorse. Constantly towing with it and making long trips. since about 60,000 miles I have made it a habit get take it out to place I know and run it up to around 105mph and holding it there for 2-5 minutes to help clean it out a few miles after every oil change alo seemed to help my mpg. I think I will probubly bolt up the m1 just to see how bad the lowend loss is. I will keep you guys informed on how it go's.
