94 1500 code 34? Truck in drive for 2 days
Hi Guys. I used to get codes 12, 21, 51, 34, and 37. Changed the O2 sensor, and everything except for 37(tranny temp) and 12 went away. The truck started intermittently before I did that fix and running like crap, and was starting intermittently and running better after that. Now, I cant start the truck for the past 2 days, and engine code 34 has showed up. When I looked up the codes, the 94 truck didnt have code 34.
I am not getting spark at the plugs.
Any idea whats up, or what the 34 code for a 94 ram 1500 is?

Okay.....I dug out my test light, and.......there are 2 wires entering the coil through a clip on the bottom. I am getting spark when I turn the engine over from the right (drivers side) wire that enters the coil....nothing from the left...negative?....there is no spark exiting the coil.
Coil?.....some weird crankcase sensor?.....Because the spark enters the coil, and doesnt come out, does that eliminate the distributor sensor?

Did you lose your injecter pulse as well?
If so, you might look to the crank sensor. Bolted on behind the cylinder head (pass side) reading the rotatation of the crankshaft through the trans bellhousing. Easier on vans where you can see the back of the engine.
No engine rotation, no need for fuel or spark.
Mine never set a code, just wouldn't start.

Dodge are known for coils to just drop dead. Happen to me twice in 8 years. One of them was an Accel coil, did the same thing.
Got a donor coil to try?
In the Haynes Manual 1994 -2001
Trouble code 34 - Open or shorted condition detected in the speed control vacuum or the vent solenoid circuits ---- this doesn't sound like your problem.

Just to let you guys know....I borrowed a friends coil, and the truck started right up, thank God. If it wasnt the coil, I was going into uncharted territory, for me. I'll check to see if my mysterious code disappears tomorrow, and then close out this post.
