I was just wondering what the largest tire size would be to fit on a 98' Ram 1500 crew cab, 2WD. My tires are currently stock size and worn out. I need to put on some new tires and figured I would go ahead and put the larger tires in, but at the same time, don't want to spend money on Suspension or body lifts. Thanks in advance for any help and advice!

 

My 98 ram quad cab came with p-245/75-16 which was an option for us Canadian guys. I now have Kelly LT-245/75-16 load range C.

 

265 if your gear ratio is 3.55

MAYBE 285 if your ratio is 3.92 or 4.10...the 285s would probably rub a bit.

 

I have no idea what my gear ratio is, everything in my truck is stock, so I'm guessing they are the same ones that came with the truck. So I should be able to put on 265's comfortabely with stock gears then?

 

Yes. I gave a friend of mine the 265/16's off my 97 sport for his 96 2WD. Same body. Fit well.

 

I just put 265's on my 98 Ram mounted on 17" rims and they fit fine. I'm not sure what gears I have, but it seems like I'm winding a bit more at 70 mph.

WAIT ... I'm sorry I just realized that you have a 2wd. My Ram is 4wd.
