Default a few suspension questions (lowering)

So i finally went and got some pricing on some new supsension parts. belltech shocks, front springs, rear hangers, etc.

i really wanted to go with air but the guy said that the winter would not be kind to the valves. is this true? all the transport trucks have air and they drive in winter?

also, does anyway have experiance runnng hangers ont he rear? i wanted to get whole new leaf springs but apparently arent that easy to find. also wondering about the control arms, is it in my best interest to change them also?

im only looking to lower it a couple inches and want to have the best ride possible.

so front springs, shocks front and rear, and rear hangers. good? or should i go with rear leafs and also add the new control arms?

or if anyone knows of another good forum with less offroaders

thanks

oh, its a 96 1500, v6, reg cab, short box, 2wd
