How can I know for sure the amperage for my alternator... I tried looking it up on the Denso web site, but not much luck there. There doesn't appear to be any markings on the alternator itself indicating amperage. Will it hurt the truck to put an alternator with HIGHER amperage? Are the housings different on the parts?

it should either be a 117 amp alt or a 136 amp alt. i think the sports came with a 136. i'd replace it with a 136 unless you're planning on running a huge amount of off road lights all at once.

I do run a plow on this truck if that changes anything, but really I'm just in a rush to get it back running and get back to work....

I Would Go with the larger amp. You will only use it when you need it. Kinda like a house, you might have a 2000 amp service but the living room lights are on a 15 amp breaker. I up graded mine when I put in my stereo stuff.

man thats best explaination that ive heard

he's right... your voltage regulator/rectifier only allows enough voltage based on the draw rate... you could put in a 10000 amp alt and it will only push through what you need...

in any event id put in a 136... its always better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it!
