New hypertech programmer arrived.

After all selections are made, it asks if I want to program the new choices,(press Y) , to return to first selection press N. When I press y to program I get sent back to make the first selection again. And it looks like noone will be at Hypertech until Monday morning.. Great, just great.

 

what year is your truck? and what size motor and what programer partnumber do you have

r u follinw the on screen instructions as far as when to turn the key to on and off etc etc etc.. shouldnt be starting the truck at all..just turning the key to ON.. no crank

 

99'2500 with 5.9. After turning the key to on, I followed all the steps through all the selections. The screen than says "you have made the following selections." It lists the selections and then says hit y to program or n to return to step a (1). When I hit y, it returns me to step a (1).I tried it about 5 times with the same results. HHEELLPP>

 

GF, I had this problem with mine as well. Press Y and hold it down. I went through that cycle probably 5 different times with mine and it did the same thing, take me back to the first step every time. After all that BS I just pressed the Y and held it down and it worked.

Thank you Hawkeye!!!! Worked the first time! Thought i was going to have to wait Monday to make a call to Hypertech. Maybe their instructions should read "press and hold Y". I'll let you guys know what kind of difference it makes. How about you, Hawkeye, what kinds of improvement/gains have youy seen with this programmer?? Thanks again, now I can sleep.

 

you shouldnt have to hold Y.. for my 01 you just tap it and it works.. maybe its the year or type.. hell if it works.. rock on!

 

Damn skippy. When I took off from a dead stop, I pulled the front wheels off the ground about a foot a carried them about 100 ft!! Okay, not really but at least the speedo is a lot closer now. So any info on gains you guys noticed, like seat of the pants dyno results or mileage numbers??

 

butt dyno was very impresssed by the h-tech install.. even more when you put 93 in and run the 93 program.. very very fun.. if you notice a spark nock and ping i suggest you install a 180 deg thermo to help it.. its been common to experience this

 

The first time I did it is the only time I had to hold the Y down to get it to download. Ive taken it off and re-downloaded a few times now and it just needs to be pressed.
As far as gains Ive seen with it, gfunkatoa, Theyre great. I had a re-flashed PCM in my truck, and it ran like a broke dick dog when I bought it. My Hypertech on the 87 program woke it up, and on the 93 with Shell V-Power 93 Octane woke her up even more.
