air down as low as you can go, will help you stay on top of the sand. keep it in 4wd, dont try to 2 wheel it until you get stuck.
dont jam on the brakes hard, you'll skid to a stop and create huge ruts that may be tough to get out of.
if a particular section looks tough, keep moving through it, dont stop in the middle.

i would think that i would need the ground clearance over i wider foot print. why wait till i'm stuck to put it in 4wd

like rad said lower your tire pressor, just dont do it so much you blow the bead and then you will be ****ed. also keep it in 4L and keep your foot out of it. try crawling though it. not hammering the gas and makeing huge ruts. and bring another truck

no, the minimal ground clearance you gain from keeping thwe tires full is no help. a taller skinnier tire puts more weight over a smaller section of tire, so you sink deeper and faster. run as low as pressure as you can.

and i said do NOT keep it in 2wd...as soon as you think you need it, pop in 4wd.

also like i said keep it in 4L and crawl, if you feel it start to slip, hold the brakes with one foot and keep the other one on the gas and it will try to transfer the power to the other wheels or both.

How soft of sand are we talking????

I run on the beach at Nags Head, NC with around 25psi in my 12.5 tires. A stock tire would need less air, 18-20, like said before it is thinner and will drop in the sand.

its pretty soft in most places, gravel in others, water in the rest. its actually really nice terrain but i've already got stuck out there due to my hubs not locking in because of a vacuum hose was apart

i'm runnin stock 265/75/16s, will they still hold a bead at 20 psi. that would suck if i had a blow out half mile down the creek
