Default Wheel size

I have a 1998 2500 extended cab. I need new tires and would like to know if the newer 17" rims would fit my 1998 Dodge. I have a line on a set of take offs that are LT265/75 R17 Michelins. Would this affect my speedometer as I now have 245/75R16's on my rig.
Thanks.

Yep ... they'll fit.

Take a look at the pics of my Ram. Same truck, same model as yours. Mine is a 4x4 though. I just put on a new set of 17" with 265's aluminum rims and I love them.

yes it will throw your speedo out a little. You can take it in and they can program your pcm for the new tire size or you can buy a programmer which will give you a little more hp, allow you to change the tire size yourself and will also work as a code reader

Honestly, I didn't notice a difference however I didn't really have it checked. I just looked at one of those highway signs that tells you your speeding when i went past it. I went by at about 72, and it still said 72. That's good enought for me. I went from a 16" 245 75 to a 17" 265 70.
