Default 2001 Sport Lights "Yellowing"

My headlights are going yellow and starting to peel. Any ideas on how to cure this. I'm sure that I can get new lights from the dealer, but it should be cheaper to just clean them, if there's a way!

I used a plastic polish from mcguires on my wifes toyota and they turned out much better. other than replacing them that might be your best option.

the stuff at walmart is made by permatex.. you use a 3 step wet sanding process followed by a plastic polish compound..workes really well.. just amek sure you start off with the right grit sand paper and not work backwords ... youll be on it all night wondering why the light is getting duller and duller lol

The permatex stuff works very well. I used it on my headlights and they came out like new. Here is a picture of the stuff I got.

My sport headlights are still really clear on my Ram. Is there anything I should use or do to make sure they dont yellow? Like clear coat of some kind?

If they are not too far gone this stuff works well. It worked on my 01 Ram but didn't work too well on my wife's Explorer.

Hey guys, thanks for all the help on this. I think I'll try the permatex stuff. They are fairly bad. I'll let ya know how it works out.

Any suggestions on how? SHould I remove the lights from the truck, or keep them on? Winter is coming and it's getting cooler 'round here. Are they lights hard to remove?

I wouldn't take them out. You should be able to clean them up pretty good without going through the hassle of removing them. I has to replace the ones in the explorer last week and the 3 simple steps in the directions turned into 3 hours of a pain in the rear.
