Default adding a winch

does anyone know of a kit or a way to add a warn winch on to a 2000 2500 quad cab? i would like to keep the stock front bumper if possible. also would a 9000 lb winch be enough for my truck? i have this winch leftover and in good condition from an old jeep i used to have.

there are no hidden winch set ups for our bumpers, warn and some other companys make grill bars to hold a winch. theres also the new bumper option. as far as winch size, the general rule for a desent wheeler is double the weight of your truck, i myself have a 12,000. depends how much your gunna use it and how bad you plan to get stuck.

There is a receiver hitch set up out there, can't tell you the company right off hand but I have seen the set up for warn. They seem to work allright. One good thing about it is you can take the winch off if you want to use the hitch for something like launching a boat or positioning a trailer.

oh yea i forgot that one, you just need to get a hitch installed on the front and the you can run a winch cradle, i think hiddenhitch makes one

The only downside to the reciever mount is you really lose a lot of approach angle...I figure you would have to lift the truck another 9 inches minimum to make up for the winchmount. If thats not an issue, then they work fine.
Warn actually makes the mount(altho I have seen a knockoff on ebay) I'm not sure it will mount a winch larger than 9000 lbs. That's a bit on the small side even with using a block.
A bud of mine runs this on a '05 ram. Its awesome because you can wire your rear reciever as well and winch yourself BACK out of a stuck.

You might be able to use a universal mounting plate to fab a winch in your bumper, but no one makes a kit.

thanks for the info... i do know that dodge makes a kit for the 2005 2500 that you can mount a winch. i am hoping to find something soon since i have this winch laying around my house doing nothing. i took it when i sold my old jeep. since i cant afford a power wagon, i might as well make my own version of it using my truck.
