Default trailer Brake with non ABS

I am looking at installing a brake controller in my 95 ram. I don't have abs in the front. I have an older brake controller that works by connecting into the brake line itself.

Can i install this?

and

is it a good idea?

I have read some info that says these type of brkae controllers are very nice because they work off the brake line pressure.

let me know what you think.

I can't give you any direct answer on that type of controller. I haven't seen many posts on controllers on this site, so let me direct you to an RV forum where that is a pretty hot topic. There is a search box at the top of the page where you can try to look up that type of controller. http://www.rv.net/forums/index.cfm

I am asking more along the lines of how complex is the brake system on a non abs vehicle? Does it have some sort of rear abs on it even though it is not on the front? and if so does that matter?
