Default 35s with 3.55

Ok right now in running 35 inch tires with my stock 3.55 gears and on the radio today from 4-wheel parts they said that going to 4.10 or 4.56 will help your gas millage up to 25% is that true and will it be alot faster from stoplights and slower on highway then?

somebody needs to straighten me out. I thought that if you had a lower gearing with bigger tires you would have better highway MPG. becuase you tach less. less taching more savings. I guess i could see it around town as the engine doesnt try to stuggle as much to turn the tires. Is that it. but then wouldnt highway mileage go down since you are taching more. Im confused [&:]

Read up: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/gears.htm

It will help you a LOT with mileage....and it will help your OD become useful to you again. You should be running 4.56s with the 35s for sure! I don't know if it will be a 25% gain, but it should be a lot less doggy.

With 4.56's your acceleration from a dead stop will be much better, your mileage should go up also [if you keep your foot out of it], as Rom said OD will be usefull again, less stress on your tranny. Slower on the highway[&:] Don't know where that came from.

is your truck and auto or manual? i can still roast my 35's and drag honda's and kill them alot with the 3.55's the 4.56 though would be a night and day difference.

if your going to be doing alot of highway travel too.. stick with 4:10's.. 4:56's is overkill on the highway but very good for around town.. 4:10's will be a good compromise for both
