Front crank case seal
When i go home in a couple of weekends i am thinking about doing my front crank seal. I am at college now, so i have not had that much time to look at it closely. Do i have to take the fan shroud and the fan assembly off or will i be able to just rotate the fan shroud and not take the fan assembly off to take the crank pulley and dampener off?
Thanks

RE: Front crank case seal
better to pull it all off, make your life easier by doing it. the seal itself is easy to swap out. btw, you may need the special balancer remover tool for the dodge, you can rent them at an auto parts stores.
edit: actually, I take it back, you may be able to get the balancer off with all that in place, you'll have to see if there is enough room for the puller (I kinda doubt it).

RE: Front crank case seal
No special puller needed, when I did timing chain just used the universal one laying in my tool box, just match up threads for bolts.
And I would tell ya a little secret for getting crank seal back in, but Steve says it takes the fun outta letting you do it yourself.........lol

RE: Front crank case seal
in 2000 they switched the balancer to a pulley/balancer setup... all one piece. that's the one that needs the special puller...
