I'm thinking about dropping a standard in my 98' 5.9. Any recommendations as to which tranny to use? If so, any recommended sources?

NV4500 (non-HD)

It's the only one that will be a direct swap for you truck.

I'd also recommend finding a parts truck to take all the parts off you'll need like the pedal assembly, clutch slave, etc. You'll also need a different engine computer.

what kind of truck you have? that makes all the difference really, like rom an NV4500 or you can use a NV3500 but i need to know what kind of truck you have first ( 1500, 2500, and what T case is in it? and what rear end? )

 

Actually there is no t-case as it is, unfortunately a 2wd 1500. Woe is me to be sure. It is one of the old r/t's.

 

your better off finding a donor truck with a 5 speed.. and strip down everything.. its going to be a big project.. lucky for me my truck came with a 5 speed if you want a donor truck i'd gladly sell mine to you for 12k
