The hypertech WILL NOT allow you to reprogram for tire size on the 97 Rams. The 97s use a gear in the rear end to determine speed. The hypertech will only do tire size on the 98.5 and newer Rams.

not tryin to jack the thread here or go offtopic, but real quick- is that just 97 rams, or all rams BEFORE 97??

I bought two, one from a forum member that was selling his. I paid $150 for it. Second one I got from eBay, and paid $57 plus shipping for it. Great performance for the price, that's for sure.

What kind of improvements did you notice after putting in the Mopar PCM?
I noticed a jump power throughout the power band. I also noticed an increase in throttle response and gas mileage. For those of you with 96 and newer trucks (wth the electronic transmissions) you should notice some imrpovement in shifting as well.

I saw the one in your thread of PCM's that are on eBay. The one for the 97 is for the 318. Is there a difference between the 318 and the 360 PCM? My guess is there is since that one is specified for a 318.

Doesnt Hughes or KRC offer a reflash service for the stock ECM?
No, the 318 and 360 PCMs are different. You could PROBABLY get away with running one, but it wouldn't perform as well as the correct PCM for your truck would. KRC offers a reflash, but only for the 97 and newer trucks if I remember right.

That is for all rams BEFORE 98.5. There are no programmers for the 94, 95, and 96 model years. The ONLY option for those model years is the Mopar Performance PCM....and possibly the KRC flash for the 96s. I can't remember for sure on the flash, and I'm not going to go check [8D]

I paid $250 new for my first one, and then I got a $100 for my core. I paid $35 shipped for my second off ebay. I also purchased a stock PCM for my truck off ebay for $25 shipped...just in case oil does jump sky high again and I need to save every cent possible. You can get them somewhat cheap off of ebay if you look at the right time. I usually post on here when I see them show up there.

Would a 97 PCM work on my 2000 318? I like my Hypertech I could really tell a difference in my truck after I keyed it in. Better accel and gas milage. If memory serves me correct I got almost about 1.2-1.3.

No...there were changes made in mid 98. A '99 PCM would PROBABLY work. No gaurantees there though.

Do you know which years would work on the 97? I am going to guess only 97 since it was the first year w/OBDII and the last year with that analog style dash?

96 was actually the first year for OBDII The analog dash was used up until 98.5. The '96 PCM might work in the 97, but I can't say for sure. Those first few years were sort of questionable as to how much they had actually switched over to OBDII. I like to call it OBDI.5 [8D] I know it's the same way with a lot of cars. 95, 96, and sometimes 97 models tend to have electronics that are unique only to each year.
