There's a certain amount of noise that comes from the shoes up against the drums. It's normal. Your brake system has a residual valve that keeps the shoes from retracting too far from the drums. If you spin the tire one revolution, and the noise starts and stops, or the tire gets harder to spin, then easier again, it's a sign that the drums are not true. It's nothing critical. I have NEVER seen a drum that came true to round, right out of the box.

If your brakes works, don't bother with it. Pieces of rust will make noise. You can always remove the drums and spray the entire area with brake cleaner. After it dries, spray a LITTLE lube on the star/slack adjuster rod.

Good luck.

at about one revolution i can hear what i assume is the brake rubbing, kinda like a slight scraping. However all throughout the revolution is a vibration noise. Sorta like what some big 36" mudders make on the highway.
