I'm running 1/2 a quart in my oil, which is 16 ounces. Running it with Quaker State 4x4 & SUV. Engines alot quiter, I like it for how cheap is it. I got 17.25 MPG on the way to school a few weeks ago too running it, which is damn good I think!

Yes, for sure. I was alot quiter as soon as it circulated. As far as milage before I never got a good test as accurate as the trip to school beucase I don't really go on long road trips like this one. It was usually realy bad when I checked it. When I calced it before it was like 13mpg. The MMO deffenitially helped MPG but I dunno if I'd give it credit for the whole 4.25 mpg gained
Also forgot to mention that a few gas tanks (probably like 2-3 weeks) before the trip I added the other 1/2 quart to my gas tank, so between that cleaning the gas system and it working its magic in the oil it really helps.

I added it to my wifes tank when she had the dakota, also in her crank (1 qt) she notice about a 1 mpg imrovement. we were never sure if it was the mmo in the tank or in the crank. she sold her truck about 2 months later.
I always thought that the mmo in the tank would lubricate the injectors some. not sure if it would have a cleaning effect in the fuel system or not, never was able to go that far with it.... I still use it in the CTD tank, every tank

RE: Tick Tick sound coming from the engine
Well I decided to drop the truck off at a local mechanic to see what their assessment was and much to my surprise they said that I need a new engine. According to the mechanic that diagnosed the problem, I have a bearing with too much tolerance knocking against the cam shaft. I asked him how he came to that conclusion and he said that he "knows the problem when he hears it". Apparently all he did was listen to the noise and suggest that I have the entire engine replaced.
What do you guys think? I'm obviously going to get a second opinion before I do anything that drastic, but does that sound like a logical assessment? How much should I expect to pay for a new crate engine versus a junk yard engine? Would I really need a new engine or is there a more economical way to fix the problem? Assuming that is actually the problem, what is most likely to happen if I continue to drive it the way it is?
Thanks

I think that mechanic may be full of ****. Just like the guy who told me that I would *have* to bore my 5.2L and the rebuild would run me almost $2,800. I had the bores honed, cleaned the pistons, and didn't even pass $1,700.
Take your time on this one.

get a 2nd opinion 1st. plus did you do any of the suggestions here? if your looking at a new motor, you have nothing to loose.
wrecking yard motors should be around $800~900 bux complete. the better way to go IMO most people dont keep their trucks long enough to see the benifit of a rebuilt motor. those that do... kudos to them for doing it. fixing it is alot cheeper than replacing it.

Find another mechanic before you spend any real money. Put the 3$ to $5 dollar can of Marvel Mystery Oil in now. If the engine does need replacing it cannot hurt it. If it fixes your problem you just saved a few thousand based on this mechanic.
Try another auto shop that has been in business for awhile. You don't mention where you are from. Let us know your area and maybe somebody here in the Forum knows of a garage that they trust. Maybe they live close enough to you and know enough about engines to come over and take a look at your engine.
Good luck and always go for the cheap fix first. If it gets expensive you haven't wasted much.
