Yes I did put a quart of fluid in the converter before I put it on.

Yeah, ummmm, did ya prime the torque converter????? In other words, did you fill the torque converter with fluid BEFORE you installed it? If not, your probably gonna have to pull the trans and converter to do that. And if you didn't, check the trans at the front where the converter connects and pray to God that you didn't fry the pump! The converter needs to be filled with fluid before installing by pouring fluid into it, otherwise, BIG problems usually occur. Jesse James found that out the hard way on Monster Garage when he went to Iraq for a build with the troops, they fried their pump and had no way to fix it in BFE. Good luck man, got my fingers crossed for ya![sm=icon_stickpoke.gif]

Ok well I went back outside this morning and was gonna try it again before I headed up to the tranny shop to talk to the guy up there and I got to thinking about the t-case. It was in neutral. So that it why the truck didnt move. I was so damn tired last night I didnt even think about it. So I put in where it goes and tryed it again. At first when I would put it in reverse it would kind of spit and sputter and cut out if I didnt give it some gas. So I kept messing with it going back and forth in the driveway and I think that I fixed that. So I drove it down the road. First thing I noticed it got up to 3K RPMS and didnt shift into 2nd. So I dropped the shifter in 1st and then hit 2nd and still didnt go. So I turned around and on the way back it finally went into 2nd. Not very strong but it did. I had to manually shift it. I went to the house and rechecked the fluid and drove it again. This time same thing I had to manually shift it into 2nd and it still didnt want to go. And I was over 3K RPMS when I finally did get it to. So I kept going and then it wouldnt hit 3rd. So I turned around again and got it in 2nd and tryed to get 3rd and nothing. So I slipped it up into neutral and back into drive just to see it that would do it and it just stayed in neutral and finally it went back into 2nd but by this time I was going slow. What I am wandering do ya'll think that the kickdown cable that goes from the throttle body to the tranny need to be adjusted or do I just need to keep trying it and eventually everything will free up and start working??
I just got back from the tranny shop and the guy said that he put his scanner on it and it said that the tranny wasnt getting a speed reading. In other words the tranny didnt know how fast the truck was going I guess. So he checked the speed sensor on the tranny and it checked good. He said that it could be the sensor on the rear axle too but he didnt check it. He also said that it could be in the wiring or even the computer so he would have to go over really good with a meter and check a bunch of stuff until he found the problem. So if I cant figure out what the problem is between now and monday I guess I will be taking it back to him.
Just wanted to give ya'll a update on the tranny situation. I brought the truck back to the shop monday morning but I went ahead and brought it to a different shop. First thing he noticed was that the kickdown cable was adjusted wrong so he fixed that and got it shifting better. THen it quit working again. So he pulled the pan and there were metal shaving in the pan. [:@] So I told him to go ahead and pull the valve body clean it up and reinstall it. Also the spring that goes on the outside of the tranny on the driver side was missing too so he fixed that. He drove it and it was workin. SO I drove it and first thing I noticed was that it never hit overdrive so I got on the highway and still didnt. So I headed back to the shop and on that way back I stopped at a red light and then when I took off it wouldnt go past 2nd gear again. So the valve body stopped up again. So he told me they needed to pull the tranny and go through it and figure out if the problem is in the transmission itself or in the torque converter. I just pulled the tranny out tonight and this time I managed to do it in a hour and half!! I am getting faster!
So I have to carry it down in the morning and let them go through it.

I looked for a month before I decided to go with PATC tranny, saw several on Ebay that were much cheaper than the 2500.00 I spent but there was no guarantee about what parts were being put in it. Sounds like you may have fell victim to someone trying to unload a bumb tranny.......hope it works out for ya
I paid $400 for the tranny and it has 5 planetary gear set, TCI rebuild kit, Kevlar bands, shift kit, and deep tranny pan. It cost $200 to have it shipped. THe guy rebuilt it himself so I knew there was some risk in buying it. But for the price it was worth it. I spent another $350 on a new torque converter and so far I have spend $200 total at the tranny shop. I dropped the tranny off this morning and I should know in a little while what is the deal with it. I think that it is something in the torque converter but dont know for sure yet.

Well we found out today that it is the torque converter causing the problems. I called up the company I bought it from and I need to send them the old one and they are gonna open it up and go trough it and make sure it is the problem and then send a new one out. The tranny shop also found a couple other small problems in the tranny in the overdrive unit. There are a couple bearing in there that are wore out that he is gonna replace and he is also gonna put the valve body from my original tranny in there with my transgo shift kit that I already had.
