Default M1 Inatkes

I know their benefits now, read up on them a bit. I would like to know a few things to be certain from the pro's here........ Can I run the M1 with my Fastman 52mm on my magnum 360, without upgraded heads and a cam? Is it prudent? A buddy of mine told me that KRC told him it wasn't.( I have read on RMIndy's KRC woes) Also where the heck can I ind M1's for sale? I have seen 4bbl on the ebay, but I am almost certain my TB is only 2bbl.. Can anyone clarify this?

Lots of places list the M1 intake. Just need to look around. In addition to getting the intake it is a very good idea to get the Intake Manifold Installation Kit. It includes a few things to make installing the intake much easier. here are a few links to places I have had good luck with:

Dan Arkand - The Fastman: http://www.thefastman.com/index.asp ( I think he has them for sale also)
Monicatti Dodge: http://www.monicattichrysler.com/com...?idCategory=73
Jims Auto Parts: http://www.jimsautoparts.com/mopar_p...%20parts_2.htm
Socaldak: http://www.socaldakota.com/performan...manifolds.html
Campbell Enterprises: http://www.campbellenterprises.com/dodgeram.htm
MArshall Motors: http://www.marshallmotor.com/moparsp...%22P5007852%22

Just look around and find your best deal. Once you have the part number for your specific application do a Google search and all kinds of plpaces show up.

From my discussion with Dan ( The Fastman ) he stated that the M1 is a good horsepower Intake but you lose some of the torque that you enjoy with the barrell intake. That is why some members of the forum have chosen to cut down the runners and center plate inside the stock barrel intake. That mod improves horsepower with less loss of torque than the M1, and the best part is that it only costs you some time and a set of gaskets. Here is the link to the modified intake I recently sold. The pictures show you the cut down runners and center plate: https://dodgeforum.com/m_556837/tm.htm

Definitely like my torque as I mostly am an in town driver, and hauler of my camper. I am also hauling my new toy, a 74 ram 100 home next Monday. So I don't know how frisky I am about losing any torque. I would love a couple more top end ponies though.

I have researched this quite a bit myself. Basically, the loss of torque that you see with the M1 is because people are not flashing the PCM to compensate for the M1. B&G has a flash called the M1 flash. I have pm'ed a few people who have the M1 and the appropriate flash, and they tell me that they had no low end loss, but rather improvment, and didn't even need a turtle. They also say how it justs screams on the top end (where the M1 really shines). I don't hae any first hand experience on all this because I haven't done this (yet), but just relaying what I learned from my research on this topic.

Tommygunz,
Thanks for the extra info. I also have not had any personal experience with the M1 but am going off what others have told me. The positive factors to me in modifying the barrel intake to obtain increased horsepower is that you do not need to spend the $350 - $450 on a custom PCM flash. Also most of us can do the barrel mod for the cost of a gasket set, some time, and a few grinding/cutting wheels or bits. Good reason to sit in the garage, turn on the game, have some personal time, and even have a few brewski's.

DAMMIT TURKEY!!! Where the hell were you when I was modding my intake??? [:@] I'd have spent an extra day cutting that divider plate at the time instead of waiting for when I rebuild my transmission to do it!!

Oh well, I'll enjoy and report any gains I make in the meantime.[8D][&:][sm=pimp.gif]

Sorry. Been here for a bit. I try to do as much as I can for myself as it gives me a chance to save money and gets me away from my real job which is Computer Systems Analysis, Design, and Implementation.

The last time I did this I used a sawzall with a metal blade to complete the rough cut before doing any grinding. Saved me a bunch of time. Just be careful not to cut the wrong parts.

No problem. My real job is a programmer. Read all about what I've been doing here https://dodgeforum.com/m_552473/tm.htm

If you haul/tow on occassion I would go with the modded kegger, 52mm tb and 1.7rr. It will wake things up nicely for you and not send you on the parts chase. M1 completely changes how and where your motor makes power and requires upgrading a lot of parts to make it work right.

Mismatching engine parts will cost power on a heavy truck

I don't have any personal experience with them, but you might find this interesting:
http://www.hughesengines.com/general...icleID=1000003
(hope that works!)

They have a stage I, and stage II kegger. The runners are shorter on the stage II for more high end HP. They also state that the kegger is more "street friendly" than the M1.

If you do order an M1, be aware that there is more than one "M1".
